DreamAtlas: Dream Journal · Updated 7 October 2026

Privacy Policy

Your journal stays private. Anonymous world contributions are your choice.

Data stored on your device

DreamAtlas stores journal entries, drafts, your optional display name and birthday, manually selected country, preferences and progress on your device. Journal entries, recoverable drafts and progress containing free-form writing are encrypted at rest using AES-256-GCM, with keys protected by Android Keystore. Some profile fields and settings use app-private local preferences. Android cloud backup is disabled. The app does not request GPS or collect exact coordinates.

Anonymous world features

DreamAtlas connects to a Cloudflare-hosted service to display anonymous World Atlas summaries and daily global themes. You can browse without contributing. Theme sharing is off by default. For a dream you choose to share, the app sends selected broad themes and your manually selected country code, with consent and request-processing information. It does not upload your dream writing, titles, mood, name, birthday, contacts, photos or precise location.

Identifiers and retention

Online features use a random anonymous session identifier and signed token that expires within 24 hours. Tokens are stored encrypted on your device, not in the backend database. Shared signals use a one-way contributor hash that changes each UTC day. Public results require at least ten distinct daily contributors and counts are rounded down to groups of five. Signals expire within eight days. Other dreamers cannot view your writing or identity.

Service operations

Cloudflare processes requests to deliver and secure the online features. The backend does not persist IP addresses. Operational logs contain request identifiers, methods, routes and error information, and are designed to exclude request bodies, session identifiers and contributor hashes. Short-lived records prevent duplicate requests. DreamAtlas has no advertising, analytics SDKs, payment collection or connected app crash-reporting service. We do not sell personal information or use shared themes for advertising.

Your controls

Turn off future sharing, export or restore a readable JSON backup, remove your birthday, enable device lock or delete local data in Profile & Privacy. Turning sharing off or deleting one entry does not remove previously submitted signals. Deleting all data also attempts to remove signals for the current anonymous session and UTC day. Local deletion still works offline; older or unreachable signals expire within eight days. Keep readable backups secure.

Dictation, reminders and children

Optional dictation uses the speech provider configured on your device, which may process audio under its own terms. DreamAtlas receives text and does not record or retain audio. Local reminders use generic wording without journal content. DreamAtlas is not directed to children under 13.
